Career as a Cyber Law

According to Stephane Nappo “If you think you know-it-all about cyber security, this discipline was probably ill-explained to you.”

Cyber Law is a field, much broader than the whole legal sphere where all the cyber-crimes like theft, fraud, etc. that are subject to the IPC are addressed by the IT Act, 2000 and its amendments. According to Government of India: “Cyber Laws yields legal recognition to electronic documents and a structure to support e-filing and e-commerce transactions and also provides a legal structure to reduce/ check cyber-crimes”.

The distinguished nature of the Internet poses different risks and should be regulated by cyber jurisdictions. Cyber Law covers all transactions, activities, action and reactions over Internet. Cyber lawyers/experts deal with cases of cybercrimes against an individual, company or a government. Cyber-crimes are generally classified in two ways:

  • Use of computer for Targeted attacks such as virus / worms attack, hacking, etc.
  • Use of computer to commit crimes such as frauds, cyber terrorism, etc.

Starting career in the field of cyber law is the demand and necessity of present times. Diploma/PG Diploma in Cyber Law helps the lawyer to apply the relevant cyber laws while handling cases and to understand the concepts of cyberspace, cyber forensics, network security, e-commerce, e-contracts and digital signatures, intellectual property rights, cyber security, etc. Usha Martin University proposes to offer PG Diploma Programme in Cyber Law online so as to create expertise in legal community, both lawyers and judges, who have to deal cases in cyber crimes on a daily basis.
