My name is Rahul Kumar Gupta, and I am heading the Department of Civil Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Usha Martin University, Ranchi.The Department of Civil Engineering commenced its journey in 2019 with the introduction of the Diploma program. Keeping pace with the growing demand for quality technical education, the department further expanded its academic offerings by launching the B.Tech program in 2021. Since its inception, the department has remained committed to imparting industry-oriented education, practical exposure, and research-based learning to aspiring civil engineers.

To ensure holistic development and hands-on learning, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories that provide students with extensive practical exposure. Some of the major laboratories include the Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Concrete Structure Laboratory, Building Materials Laboratory, Transportation Engineering Laboratory, Strength of Materials Laboratory, and Structural Analysis Laboratory.

These laboratories are furnished with advanced and modern equipment that enables students to perform experiments and gain real-world technical skills. Key equipment available in the department includes the Triaxial Test Apparatus, Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Compression Testing Machine (CTM), and several other sophisticated instruments essential for testing, analysis, and research in the field of civil engineering.

The department strongly believes that practical knowledge is as important as theoretical understanding. Therefore, students are encouraged to actively participate in laboratory sessions, project work, industrial visits, and innovative research activities.
