The Dean of Research Message From Usha Martin University

Dear Colleagues and Students

At Usha Martin University, we are committed to fostering a vibrant research environment, underpinned by substantial financial support for research based activities. Our faculty members are at the forefront of this initiative, encouraged to pursue high-quality research. During the assessment period, we have allocated over ₹2.6 crores in seed money, resulting in remarkable achievements.

Our dedicated faculty and students have collectively published over 700 research papers in indexed journals, with prestigious publications in IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier. Additionally, UMU has seen 46 patents published and 10 granted, along with more than 750 books, book chapters, and conference proceedings to its credit.

We prioritize capacity building through a variety of workshops on Research Methodology, Skill Development, Learning Outcomes, Open Education Resources, NEP, Emerging Pedagogies, IPR, and Entrepreneurship. Our commitment to research excellence is evident through our active execution of research projects, supported by endowments from three research chairs. With a total of ₹20.76 crores received from government and non-government organizations, we have secured approximately 513 research projects.
UMU has also facilitated consultancy and corporate training programs amounting to ₹2.57 crores during the period from 2019 to 2023. To further encourage interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship, and employment, we have established an Incubation Centre. We provide monetary support to faculty for organizing and attending conferences and workshops, as well as for publishing research papers.

Our commitment to community engagement is strong, demonstrated through our NSS units, which involve nearly 100% of our students annually in a wide range of activities. UMU has adopted five villages to carry out extension activities, benefiting local communities with village libraries, health awareness initiatives, value-added agricultural practices, and sustainable living activities. Under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan initiative, we have conducted numerous collaborative activities and established 55 functional MoUs/linkages with institutions and industries during the assessment period.

UMU’s dedication to research and community engagement reflects our mission to drive innovation, knowledge, and societal impact. We continue to support and celebrate the achievements of our faculty and students as we advance towards new horizons of academic excellence and community service.
Sincerely,

Dr. Mohammad Amir Khusru Akhtar
