Programme Overview

The Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science at Usha Martin University is dedicated to developing global, multi-cultural, and multi-faceted engineers who can collaborate across borders and boundaries. Our curriculum reflects this, as do the academics, staff, and students we strive to hire. The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science has been producing highly prepared graduates with technological depth and competency to satisfy workforce needs since its foundation in 2012. In addition to a solid technical and fundamental grounding, students participate through experiential learning in research, senior design projects, team-based projects, and internships, which leads to increased work chances experience from law enforcement, legal practice, and academia. They are dedicated to providing students with personalized attention, mentorship, and guidance, ensuring their success both academically and professionally. In addition to offering undergraduate and doctoral programs in forensics, the faculty provides access to state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities. These resources enable students to gain practical knowledge of crime scene investigation techniques, forensic analysis methods, and criminal profiling strategies.

Eligibility Criteria

The Candidate must have a minimum educational qualification of higher secondary school (10 + 2) or any equivalent education with a minimum aggregate of 50%, with the following subjects:  Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Computer Science/Mathematics

Programme Objectives

• Graduates will develop a solid understanding of the key principles and practices of criminology, encompassing theories of criminal behavior, crime prevention strategies, and the functioning of the criminal justice system.
• Students will apply their knowledge of criminological theories and methodologies to analyze real-world crime problems, evaluate evidence, and develop effective strategies for crime prevention and intervention.
• The program will integrate principles from various disciplines such as sociology, psychology, law, and forensic science to provide students with a holistic understanding of crime and its impact on society.
• Graduates will develop professional skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making, to navigate complex issues in the criminal justice field and contribute positively to the community.
• The program will help students improve their communication skills, both written and oral, enabling them to express themselves clearly and persuasively in academic, professional, and public settings.
• Students will gain proficiency in information literacy and research methods, enabling them to critically evaluate and utilize relevant sources of information in their academic studies and professional practice.
• The curriculum will promote a global perspective, exposing students to international crime trends, comparative criminal justice systems, and global challenges in crime control and prevention.
• Graduates will demonstrate excellence in professionalism, moral and ethical conduct, and interpersonal skills, fostering a sense of social responsibility and respect for diversity in the criminal justice field.
• The program will prepare students for immediate employment in various sectors of the criminal justice field, such as law enforcement, corrections, and forensic science, or further studies in related disciplines.
• Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for lifelong learning and professional development, enabling them to adapt to changing circumstances and contribute to ongoing advancements in the field of criminology

• Demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of forensic techniques, including crime scene investigation, evidence collection, preservation, analysis, and interpretation.
• Develop strong analytical skills to critically evaluate forensic evidence, assess its relevance and reliability, and draw scientifically sound conclusions to support investigative efforts.
• Apply theoretical knowledge of forensic science principles, methodologies, and techniques to real-world scenarios, including criminal investigations, legal proceedings, and academic research.
• Gain practical laboratory competence by conducting experiments, utilizing specialized equipment and instrumentation, and interpreting experimental results accurately and ethically
• Acquire an interdisciplinary understanding of forensic science, integrating concepts from various scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics to address complex forensic challenges.
• Communicate forensic findings effectively and professionally through written reports, oral presentations, and courtroom testimony, catering to diverse audiences including law enforcement, legal professionals, and the general public.
• Adhere to ethical standards and principles in the practice of forensic science, maintaining integrity, objectivity, and impartiality while handling sensitive information and contributing to the administration of justice.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including forensic experts, law enforcement personnel, legal professionals, and other stakeholders, to facilitate seamless coordination and information sharing during investigations.
