Usha Martin University Hosts Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Program

Usha Martin University, Ranchi, proudly organised the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect program on its campus today, in line with the directions of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The event was organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS), UMU with the objective of engaging students in nation-building and youth empowerment.

The program witnessed the participation of more than 200 students from different departments of the university. The highlight of the event was the interaction with two prominent youth icons:

* Miss Riya Gupta, Winner of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025

* Miss Shivangi Kshitiza Saurav, who represented Uttar Pradesh at the National Youth Festival

Both speakers inspired the students by sharing their experiences, achievements, and vision for a developed India (Viksit Bharat). Their motivational words encouraged the youth to take active roles in leadership, innovation, and community service.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Milind, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Shiv Pratap Verma, Registrar, Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Campus Director, and Dr. Jayantika Pal, DSW along with Dr. Jagesh Kumar Ranjan, Program Coordinator, Dr. Shubhra Sekhar Chaktaborty, Program Officer (Unit II) and Mr. Shasanka Dev Bhuyan, Program Coordinator (Unit I), National Service Scheme, UMU and other faculty members and staff, who appreciated the Ministry’s initiative and highlighted the importance of such youth-centric programs in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

World Forensic Day Celebrated at Usha Martin University

Ranchi, September 19:* The Department of Forensic Science at Usha Martin University, Jharkhand, celebrated World Forensic Day with great enthusiasm. The occasion witnessed a unique confluence of innovation, knowledge, and student creativity.

The program was inaugurated by the University’s Campus Director, Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Dean (Academics), Prof. B.N. Sinha, and Head of the Department, Dr. Jagesh Ranjan. The guests praised the department’s initiative, stating that forensic science is a key pillar of modern investigation methodology, and that such events enhance students’ awareness and practical understanding.

The day-long event featured special attractions: interactive stalls and live demonstrations by students. The students presented live crime scene models, demonstrating the process of evidence collection and analysis, as they would at a real crime scene.

To make the event interesting and competitive, the department also organized a *treasure hunt based on forensic clues* and a *debate competition*. Students demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning skills in the debate, with the forensic team excelling and receiving praise

Engineers’ Day 2025 Celebrated at Usha Martin University

Ranchi, Sept. 15 – Usha Martin University celebrated Engineers’ Day on September 12 and 15 to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, the legendary engineer and visionary. The event was organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various disciplines.

The inaugural programme on September 12 was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Milind, and Registrar Dr. Shiv Pratap Verma, who encouraged students to pursue innovation with social responsibility.

The celebration featured a series of academic and co-curricular competitions aimed at fostering creativity and problem-solving skills among budding engineers. Major highlights included a Hackathon, Code Contest, Model Competition, Startup Pitch, and a Quiz Competition. In addition to technical events, E-gaming, Badminton, and Kabaddi competitions added energy to the occasion and drew wide participation.

UBA Cell of UMU Organized Free health camp Organised

The UBA Cell of Usha Martin University (UMU), in collaboration with the Department of Paramedical Sciences, organized a free health camp on 13th September 2025 at Angara Panchayat Bhawan from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.The health camp aimed to provide basic healthcare facilities, medical consultation, and awareness to the local community. The program was coordinated by Dr. LopamudraSatapathy, UBA Coordinator, along with Mrs. SangitaKujur, UBA Cell Member.The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Seema Devi, Mukhiya of Angara Panchayat, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged the community members to actively participate in such welfare programs.The health camp witnessed active participation from villagers, who benefited from the medical services and guidance provided by the UMU team.

UMU Organizes UGC-Guided Student Induction Program for Freshers

Dates: 13th, September

As per the University Grants Commission (UGC), Usha Martin University took the initiative to organize a learning program with the purpose of helping students get used to their new surroundings, develop bonds with fellow students and teachers, develop sensitivity towards various issues of social relevance, and absorb human values so as to become responsible citizens.
Different kinds of activities like sports, yoga, and several sessions regarding anti-ragging, the student code of conduct, grievance cell, cyber security, examination rules & regulations, placements, library rules & regulations, universal human values, health and hygiene, personality development, and motivational speeches. Finally, cultural programs lifted the spirits of the fresher’s. The student induction program was for seven days, from 25th August to 30th August 2025.
Around 1800 students took part in this event.
This event was coordinated by the Dean of Students Welfare, Dr. Jayantika Pal, with the help of UMU members. It was highly successful in all aspects.

“Healthy Ageing begins with Physiotherapy – Celebrated with pride at UMU!”

The Department of Physiotherapy, UMU, proudly celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on 8th September 2025 with the global theme “Healthy Ageing.”

The event was graced by Shri Rajeev Bhatt, Commandant, 26th Bn, SSB, and Dr. Ahmad Faisal Khan, Commandant (Med.), 26th Bn, SSB, along with our esteemed university dignitaries. The chief guests highlighted the vital role of physiotherapy in modern healthcare. Shri Bhatt shared his recovery journey, while Dr. Khan appreciated UMU’s physiotherapy services and expressed interest in future collaborations with SSB camps.

The presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Madhulika Kaushik added immense value, inspiring students and faculty with her words of encouragement and vision for academic and professional growth. Dr. Akanksha Anand,Head of the Department also highlighted the transformative changes introduced by National Commission for Allied &Healthcare Professions and expressed gratitude to the leaders of the profession and the Indian Association of Physiotherapy.

The celebration showcased the talent and creativity of students through cultural performances and an impactful awareness skit.

Three-Day Consecutive Industrial Visit to Brightcode Software Services Pvt. Ltd. (Codezeal

Dates: 29th, 30th April & 1st May 2025

The Department of Training & Placement, Usha Martin University, organized a three-day consecutive industrial visit for the final year BCA students to Brightcode Software Services Pvt. Ltd. (Codezeal), from 29th April to 1st May 2025. The purpose of this visit was to expose students to the practical aspects of software development, corporate functioning, and industry expectations. It served as a perfect platform for students to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

Each day of the visit commenced with a warm welcome ceremony, where the accompanying institutional representatives were honored with mementos. The inaugural session included a brief presentation introducing the company’s profile, including its ventures, working environment, services, achievements, and market presence. Students were given an overview of Codezeal’s development strategies and its contributions to the IT industry. The day continued with short technical sessions followed by a guided tour of ongoing projects, offering insights into real-time software development and client handling. Students then participated in interactive sessions with developers and team leads, who shared their journey, industry experiences, and current tech trends.

From Classroom to Coalfield: A Practical Insight into Corporate and Managerial Operations for BBA Final Year Students

The Department of Training & Placement, Usha Martin University, organized an industrial visit to Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) – Rajrappa Project, Rajrappa on 2nd May 2025 for the final year students of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). The objective of the visit was to provide students with real-time exposure to the functioning of a large-scale industrial setup and to help them understand the managerial and operational dimensions of the coal mining industry.

The visit began with a brief introductory session conducted by the industrial representatives of Central Coalfields Limited. The officials provided a detailed overview of coal mining operations, the significance of the Rajrappa Project, and the organizational structure of CCL. Students were introduced to various aspects of coal production, logistics, safety measures, and environmental management practices followed at the site. After the introductory session, students were taken on a guided site tour, where they witnessed the operational zones, equipment in action, and the layout of the mining area. Ranchi, April 5, 2024: Usha Martin University organized its second convocation, on Friday, April 5th, 2024, at its campus in Narayansoso, Ranchi. It was a momentous occasion marked by the presence of esteemed dignitaries and the celebration of academic achievements.

The convocation, graced by the honourable Padma Vibhushan Dr. R.A. Mashelkar as the Chief Guest, saw the participation of distinguished guests including the Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Prabhat Kumar, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Prof. Suresh Garg, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, and Chairman Shri Hemant Goyal, alongside Vice-Chancellors and registrars from various Universities of Jharkhand.

The ceremony commenced with the warm welcome extended by university registrar Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra to the Chief Guest and Chancellor followed by the conferring of degrees upon a total of 275 students. Among the recipients were 9 gold medallists, 18 Ph.D. recipients, 165 UG and PG recipients, and 83 diploma recipients, each recognized for their dedication and academic excellence.

UMU Cricket Ground to Host BCCI Matches: MoU Signed with JSCA

Ranchi, August 13, 2021: Usha Martin University’s cricket ground is set to host matches organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) and UMU to enhance the ground’s facilities, including the preparation of eight turf wickets and improved drainage.

The initiative will make the UMU ground a key venue for rural talent, with matches expected by November-December. This partnership adds to Jharkhand’s cricket infrastructure, offering four BCCI-approved grounds, including the iconic JSCA Stadium and Jamshedpur’s Keenan Stadium.

Eye Check up Camp Organized by Usha Martin University in Childag Village

A free eye check-up camp was successfully organized by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of Usha Martin University (UMU) in collaboration with the Department of Paramedical Sciences on December 4, 2024, at the Panchayat Bhawan in Childag village. The camp ran from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and saw enthusiastic participation from the local community.
The primary objective of the camp was to provide free eye care services to the residents, raise awareness about eye health, and identify common vision-related problems. The event featured a team of skilled paramedical staff and eye specialists from Life Care Hospital, Ranchi, who conducted comprehensive eye examinations for individuals across various age groups.
More than 47 individuals attended the camp, benefiting from services such as vision tests, diagnosis of eye ailments, and counseling on maintaining good eye health. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Durga Pahan, Mukhiya of Childag village, and Dr. Lopamudra Satapathy, UBA Coordinator at UMU.

Childag, January 3, 2025 — In a heartfelt initiative aimed at supporting the elderly during the harsh winter months, the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of Usha Martin University organized a blanket distribution program at the Childag Village Panchayat Bhawan on January 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The event was attended by numerous senior citizens from the village, all eager to receive support for the cold winter season.
The event began with a briefing from Mr. Durga Pahan, the Mukhiya of Childag, who highlighted the critical measures needed to safeguard the elderly during winter. He stressed the importance of warm clothing, proper nutrition, and taking precautions against common winter-related health issues, particularly for senior citizens. Mr. Pahan also emphasized the significance of community care, reminding everyone of the need to offer extra attention to older adults in times of severe weather.

Devnika Hospital Organizes Enlightening Awareness Seminar on Cosmetology at Usha Martin University

Grand event at UMU on International Nursing Day

Angadha: Usha Martin University’s Nursing Department organized a grand two-day program on 12 May 2025 to commemorate International Nursing Day. On this occasion, various types of educational, cultural and health awareness related activities were organized. The program was inaugurated by the Pro Chancellor of the University Prof. S.C. Garg, Registrar Dr. Anil Mishra, and Dean Academics Prof. B. N. Sinha by lighting the lamp. After the inauguration, debate competitions, cultural presentations, and sports competitions were organized by the students of the Nursing Department, in which students and faculty members from various departments of the university participated enthusiastically.

The purpose of this event was to honor the nurses who provided excellent service in the field of nursing and to spread health awareness. The students presented the importance of nursing service through creative mediums. The second day, to be held on May 13, 2025, will see events such as Open Talk, Poster Presentation, Nurses Day Card Competition, Best Out of Waste, Art and Craft, and Food Stalls, in which students from all departments will participate. This two-day event filled the university campus with enthusiasm, service spirit and creativity. Mega Plantation Drive Organised by NSS and UBA at Usha Martin University under the theme “1 पेड़माँकेनाम”

The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) units of Usha Martin University (UMU), Ranchi, jointly initiated a Mega Plantation Drive in the surrounding areas of the UMU campus, commencing from 23rd June 2025. This extensive environmental initiative aims to promote ecological balance and biodiversity conservation.

As part of the campaign, NSS and UBA volunteers, along with teaching and non-teaching staff from the university, are actively engaged in planting approximately 100 saplings each day. The drive is planned to continue for one month, with a target to plant over 3,000 saplings in total. Additionally, the initiative includes the installation of artificial bird nests to aid in avian conservation.

Species selected for the drive include Bargad (Banyan), Peepal, Jamun, Mulberry, and Maulshree, among others. These plants were thoughtfully chosen based on their high fruit yield, superior oxygen-emission capacity, and contribution to environmental sustainability.
