- A candidate should have a master’s degree from a recognized university or institution.
- A minimum of 55% is required in the master’s degree.
- A relaxation in percentage will be given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-Abled and such other categories as per the decision of the UGC & Government of India.
- Candidates who have cleared the UGC (JRF) Examinations, NET, SET, or SLET, or who hold an M. Phil degree, are eligible to appear directly at the interview.

To be eligible for the interview, candidates must receive at least 50% in the general category or 45% in the reserved categories on the PhD Computer Science entrance exam. Although they are not required to take the admission exam, candidates having credentials such as an M.Phil, JEST, UGC-NET, or GATE-IIT are required to register and show up for an interview for Usha Martin University PhD admission.
The final selection is determined by adding the results of the admission exam and the interview, which is administered by a university committee and carries 50 marks.
