Message from the Pro Vice-Chancellor
As we navigate an era of unprecedented technological disruption and shifting global dynamics, the role of higher education, especially in professional and technical domains, must evolve. Personally, I do not view technology merely as a tool for delivery, but as a catalyst for systemic transformation. My goal is to facilitate and support a future-ready ecosystem in which academic excellence, cutting-edge innovation, and robust quality assurance frameworks converge to create meaningful societal impact.
At Usha Martin University (UMU), my focus will be on shifting our approach from traditional, rigid evaluation metrics to authentic, process-oriented assessments that prioritize competency with compliance. Quality in technology-enabled education means creating immersive, dynamic, and collaborative learning environments that prepare students for a volatile job market while maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. Embracing new innovations will be centred around pedagogical outcomes.
Teaching and learning at UMU are anchored on the National Policy on Education (NEP 2020), integrating both Indian Knowledge Systems and Artificial Intelligence in the curricula. I will strive to support an environment that promotes quality higher education to all. One focus will be on using open educational resources to reduce textbook costs and provide high-quality learning materials for students.
In the technical and professional sectors, representation matters. One of my priorities is to drive gender parity not just in student enrollment but also in providing a voice for both boys and girls and empowering them with 21st-century skills. True progress happens when we cultivate an inclusive campus culture that actively supports women and underrepresented genders in STEM and professional fields.
The students we educate are future citizens. Our ambitions and progress must be ethically appropriate for global responsibility. As an institution, we align our strategic goals with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We are also integrating sustainability into curricula, challenging our students to design solutions that are not only technologically superior but also environmentally sustainable and socially just. The future of higher education lies at the intersection of innovation and empathy. By balancing rigorous quality standards with a deep commitment to justice and sustainability, we will continue to graduate professionals who are not only technically proficient and industry-ready, but also socially conscious.
