Programme Overview
The objective of the Ph.D. program in Computer Science is to cultivate advanced research skills, critical thinking abilities, and provide research training that encourages students to acquire independent research skills. The program aims to prepare scholars to become independent researchers, thought leaders, and innovators capable of making significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge and technology in computer science and related disciplines. Learners can advance their careers in computing and information technology by completing the program. It allows students to choose their research topic, allowing them to be more closely associated with their professional careers.
A Ph.D. in Computer Science is an advanced degree that aligns with different domains within computer science, each with its own unique focus and challenges. The research areas are generally concerned with core computer technologies as well as emerging technologies in that field.Some of the most popular domains for Ph.D. programs include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, IoT, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics and many more evolving technologies. These are just a few examples, and there may be other specialized domains depending on faculty expertise and students interest. The PhD program is semester-wise and extended from 3-5years. There are two categories of research:
- Full-time Ph.D. in Computer Science
- Part-time Ph.D. in Computer Science
- D. in Computer Science program, candidates must hold a master’s or PG degree.
- The candidates must have a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized university or equivalent institution in the particular domain of study.
- Relaxation shall be granted to applicants belonging to the SC/ST/OBC(Non-Creamylayer)/Differently-abled and other categories as determined by the UGC and the Government ofIndia.
- To be eligible for the benefits available to reserved category students, they must present their reservation certificates issued by the relevant authorities.
- Candidates who have already passed the UGC (JRF) Examinations, NET, SET, or SLET, or who holdan M. Phil degree, are eligible to appear directly to the interview.
The Selection procedure is based on Entrance exam and Interview.
- The Entrance Examination is MCQ based. There are two sections. First section consists of 50 MCQ based on General Awareness, covering Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability and Language Competence. Second section consists of 50 MCQ questions based on subject domain knowledge.Candidates with an overall score of 50% or higher in the General category and 45% or higher in the SC/ST/OBC category will be eligible for an interview.
- Admission process will be followed by Personal Interview (PI).Every eligible candidate interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science will be required to appear in an interview conducted by the University’s Committee.
